The 68th DLCO-EA Regular Session of the Council of Ministers was held at the Ramada Resort, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on 4th September, 2023 under the Chairmanship of H.E. Dr, Ahmed Mathobe Nunow, Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Somalia. This was preceded by the Technical Executive Committee comprising of Directors and Commissioners of crop protection from the nine member Countries of Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. The Executive Committee and Secretariat Session run from 31st August to 2nd September 2023, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Nyasebwa Enock Chimagu, the Director of Crop Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Tanzania.
The Council of Ministers received the progress report for the FY2022/23 and approved the work programs and budget for FY 2023/24. The Session was also attended by development partners and other stakeholders including FAO, IRLCO-SA, IGAD-ICPAC, among others. The meeting recommitted to support the modernization initiatives to enable the organization respond and manage migratory pests and vectors in the region more effectively.
