Strengthening Pest Surveillance, Early Warning and Safe Pesticide Management

The Desert Locust Control Organization for Eastern Africa (DLCO-EA), with support from the Food and Agriculture Organization Sub Regional Office for Eastern Africa (FAO-SFE), implemented a regional capacity-building project on strengthening pest surveillance, early warning systems, and safe pesticide management for transboundary pests in Eastern Africa.

The project was implemented from December 2025 to May 2026 and covered Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan, Uganda, and Tanzania. The regional training sessions were conducted in Moshi, Tanzania, and Entebbe, Uganda, bringing together participants from member countries to strengthen technical capacity in pest surveillance, digital data collection, early warning, pesticide safety, and safe pesticide disposal.
