DLCO-EA holds its 69th Council of Ministers Regular Session in Mombasa, Kenya

December 5, 2024.

The 69th DLCO-EA Council of Ministers Regular Session was held at PrideInn Flamingo Beach Resort, in the coastal city of Mombasa, Kenya on 5th December, 2024 under the Chairmanship of Hon Asad Abdirisak Mohamed, State Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Somalia. This was preceded by the Technical Executive Committee (EXCOM) comprising of Directors and Commissioners of Crop Protection from the nine member Countries of Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. The Executive Committee and Secretariat Session run from December 2-4, 2024, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Nyasebwa Enock Chimagu, the Director of Crop Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Tanzania.

The Council of Ministers received the progress report for the FY2023/24 and approved the work program and budget for FY 2024/25. The session was graced by H.E. Ms. Farayi Zimudzi, the FAO Sub Regional Coordinator (ai) for eastern Africa, a key development partner to the organization.

The Council of Ministers made several resolutions that were captured in the communique during the press conference held at the end of the session.

DLCO-EA remains committed to support the member countries through timely response in the survey and control of migratory pests, early warning, forecasting and information sharing, applied research and capacity building of the national technical personnel in the respective Ministries of Agriculture.
