Effective Emergency Locust Control in Locust Prone Countries in The Horn of Africa

As the Desert Locust infestation in the Eastern Africa region is historically a threat to the food security of mainly the subsistence farmers, a project focusing on the “Effective Emergency Desert Locust Control in Locust-prone Countries in the Horn of Africa” was initiated in front line countries of Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Sudan on 26 August 2016.

The initiative financed and assisted with funds from United States Agency for International Development (USAID), DLCO-EA and the FAO Regional Office for Africa agreed to merge resources and lead the project Effective Emergency Locust Control in Locust Prone Countries in the Horn of Africa being implemented in the 5 frontline states mentioned above to improve on early warning and build capacities of technical staff.
